BED BUGS
Most commonly found bed bug species in Malaysia that readily bite humans are Cimex lectularius and Cimex hemipterus. Although bed bug infestations are at higher risk in public accommodations where people lounge, sleep or sit in places such as hotels and cinema, it not unusual to find them at your homes. This is because bed bugs can be brought home through your luggage, clothes, bags etc. and by carrying just 1 single surviving female bed bug home, it can spell disaster.
Luckily for you, we have loads of tips to help you identify signs of an infestation and how you can deter from bringing home any bed bugs from your travels. It is a traveller’s biggest fear: waking up in a hotel bed (or even your own bed!) with the telltale bites and droplets of blood on the sheets.
What do bed bugs look like?
Bedbug larvae or 'nymphs' are about 1.5mm in size and transparent (white), the nymph takes on a reddish color when feeding, also growing after each meal.
Bedbug eggs are about 1mm in size, they look a bit like white granules lying next to each other and develop after a couple of weeks.
Bed Bug Infestation Signs
Here are a few of the common signs that there may bed bugs in one of your rooms.
1.Dark/black stains - on the mattress and surrounding area from bed bug excreta.
2.Sweet scent - An unpleasant, sweet, sickly scent.
3.Small dark spots - Small dark blood spots on bedding known as 'faecal pellets'.
4.Live insects - despite being small (adult are only 4-5mm long) it’s possible to spot live bed bugs and shed skins.
5.Blood spots - on the sheets or mattress.

AJ Pest Bed Bug Management Programme
Bed Bug Management programme is a 7-day treatment plan that targets bed bugs at specific stages of their lives to control the infestation and reduce the risk of re-infestation. There will be a total of three separate treatments throughout the programme, at specific intervals.
As bed bug eggs take only 5 days to hatch under favourable conditions, our staggered multiple treatment is the most efficient and holistic approach to eliminating bed bugs.
Day 1
- We conduct an initial inspection to prepare for the first treatment. Rooms that are adjacent to the infested room will also be checked to identify all infestation spots in the premises.
- First treatment is carried out to kill any adult bed bugs and nymphs at the infested spots and those hiding in beds, cupboards and other small crevices.
Day 7
- Final inspection
- Final spot treatment to target any surviving nymphs that may have hatched.
- Rooms will be released and clean-up can take place
